Default G-Tek SABM Kit Installed, simple.

I installed my SABM i got from Dez today, and it was pretty simple, finding a 3" bi metal hole saw in canada cost just as much as the kit, i ended up paying $10 for a wood/plastic one from canadian tire that with a little extra effort cut through the metal.

With a few trips to the store during the install, (and working on my other car, Noticing that it has 2 ripped CV boots in the process) it took overall longer time, but hey, got me some new tools, I think i cut the hole just a tad too high as the K&N air filter wouldnt fit right, but some a little bit of hammering and jiggling got it in, not perfect but i dont see it causing any problems.

Only issue i had and i dont know why, when i started the truck up after connecting everything, it fired and stalled right away, then fired right up to normal on 2nd try, did it again when i disconnected everything when i had to readjust for filter.

Ill see how my MPG goes in about a week or so

Keep us posted on what differences you notice.I've got Dez's kit on "the short list" but haven't been able to order it yet.

The first test for MPG havent turned out too well, the first with around 225 miles, about 1/3rd highway at 50MPH(was following our classic car home), 1/3rd highway at 62mph and 1/3 city turned a 17.5 MPH

To my lake an back which was over 250 miles, though i got slowed down twice to a crawl for 10 mins once and 30 mins the other time, 5kms of low 4wd, and passing one car speeding up to over 80, got 18.5 MPG,ill try later on with hopefully better runs as i was able to hit over 20 mpg without the SAMB

My previous drives on this route, i barely did any 4wd, once a little, no heavy accelerating, constant speed of 60mph with no real stops of long idling time, so its kinda comparing apples to oranges at the moment

My truck did the stall on the first start after I installed my cai. It must just be something with the vacuum hoses or the maf sensor.

Are you guys talking about stalls after the SABM install or after a CAI install?

I am saying it happened when I did my cai and believe it was probably from disconnecting and reconnecting either the mad sensor or vacuum lines. If you disconnect these while installing the sabm then I feel that would cause the stall problem for you. It only happened to me the very first start after I installed my cai a few months ago and I have had no problems since.

any tricks or tips on cleaning the MAF sensor? I have heard the non conductive computer/chip cleaner from radioshack works very well..I plan on cleaning my truck this weekend in side and out, and this is on the list.
