    Default 2007 Tundra bed rust...

My Tundra has some bad rust starting on the bed between the cab and the bed on the bed seams, rivets, and welds!!!

This is not where you would normally look everyday...

I was wiping my truck down one day and noticed it. First I thought It was dirt, but upon closer inspection, it was fricken rust starting!!!

Long story short, I took it to the Toyota dealer to look at... Several phone calls later and some minor threats, they agreed to have it (the rusty areas behind the bed) repainted.

Probably have it scheduled in the next couple of weeks...

The paint is very thin there and terrible coverage.

I must say, I love my Tundra, but this paint is the worst i've ever seen. TOYOTA get your act together on the paint jobs...

I tried to take pics but with the angle and narrow spacing, you cant tell with pics.

    Check your rig out peeps...

wait a few more year's yours is what a 2010. Tundra has rust issues no doubt and it's not just a first gen issue anymore. I had the Bed bolt's on my 2000 Tundra rust out but that was the only issues I've seen on my old truck. There is a product that hook's on your battery that helps prevent's rust I saw this on the Sema event coverages on cable the other night.

Yea it's the Epa fault to be very honest I agree. California air standards are making it's way in other states just to paint a car including Georgia. I was talking with the body shop manager about the paint problems I've seen on these thread including rust . He mentioned this has been having some issues lately including Toyota and the others. It seems during the time Paint was reforulated to meet air standards that quality suffered as a redirect result. Yea Toyotas air born paint is thin but it's industy wide and not just a Toyota issue.

When it comes to rust like on the title of this thread I know very well Toyota been having some issues from Tacoma to Tundra. The company has spent a lot of money replacing frames and buying truck's back just to please there customers. Overall Toyota didn't have to do this but it varies from Customer to customer and or a love or hate depending on whom you talk with. I do feel the quality standards on the 2nd gen and first Gen frames are not to the levels they should be. Toyota does have some rather week link's on there frames to improve the relationship with repeat buyers like myself. I have been told the 3rd generation Tundra due in 2014 will have a frame similar to the new f-150 in terms of improvement made and better methods to improved the famous bed bounce.

Someone needs to submit this product to Mythbusters for a little test.
