Default Thump/clunk just as stopping, taking off

2008 Crew Max RWD sometimes makes a clunk that I can feel just as I'm stopping and sometimes just as I take my foot off the brake and the truck just starts moving. Has anyone here experienced anything similar? Anybody found a fix?

Have you checked your rear brakes??? I highly suggest you do this. At the same time.... is it when you first start it?? Usually it clunks just passed 15 mph and appears to be OK..... but if it does the sound every time you stop.. I highly suggest you pull your wheels and check all 4 rotors especially the insides. One of my aftermarket rotors failed on my 07 and it took my rear caliper, plus having your break pedal sink to the floor while in traffic is something else....

The clunk is intermittent. I didn't notice it this morning but mostly highway miles. New pads and rotors all around, clunk was there before and after. I've seen some post about greasing the driveshaft but those all referenced 4WD trucks. Does the same apply to the RWD trucks?

Same thing applies to 2wd. just in less places.

We'll, I guess that means I need to crawl underneath and locate some grease fittings

lmao.... I need to do that too, but adding the transmission to my list... and rear diff.... but since we have a quarantine order out here, shouldn't be too hard to mess up....

Hello I noticed this on my 05 tundra. Itís as if someone has bumped in the back of me just as I come to a stop. It doesnít happen all the time. I asked dealership and they said nothing to worry about. It might be the propeller they said. Anyway I have 300K on her now and still going strong. I have a 2017 1794 too and donít feel that so far. If itís the same clunk...I never worried about it and nothing has ever developed from it. Hope this helps.

    Bobby
