Rack and pinion issues
Just replaced the rack and pinion on my 2010 tundra rock warrior. I cycled the the steering wheel several time to bleed the air out. When I start the truck and go to turn the wheel. The steering wheel begins to bounce side to side very violently. All my lines are tight and nothing is leaking what did I do wrong on the install? Also with the truck off it is very hard to turn the steering wheel back and fourth.

Maybe there’s still air in the system? Lots of YouTube vids showing how to bleed properly. Let us know.

Re: Rack and pinion issues
It took me 3 days to bleed out all the air from my 91 MR2 clutch system and there was still air in the system... just food for thought... talk about leg day for 2 people... also, if the truck is off it will take you everything you have to turn the wheel... your best bet would be lifting up the front end, place jack stands and have someone else turn the wheel to see if there is anything caught up or binding and pulling the steering wheel back.......

Re: Rack and pinion issues
The truck is on jack stands to help turn the steering wheel. But it is still hard to turn. The rack and pinion is supposed to be self bleeding.

Re: Rack and pinion issues
Assuming there are no groans, grinds and squeals, double check all bolts and supports are on tight. Double check fluid on the inside since at times it may stain full on the outside. Double check your tie rods and axle castle nuts if its all tighten down, then it may be the pump, or possibly a faulty steering rack where the seals may have given in. I may be wrong, but hopefully someone else can chime in and correct me as there may be something else that's wrong.. I've read somewhere that the 2012 pumps were faulty and were issued a TSB, you may find some luck there and not have to foot the bill.
