Well, today is the day..... It appears I've lost my rear brake line. I was coming to a stop and my pedal dropped to the floor... any one who has gone through it can imagine my horror when you're slowly creeping to a car that's less than 5 feet away. This came to a pretty scary shocker to me as I've previously inspected all my brake lines and they all looked good... on the outside. To be honest. I'm not sure what exactly failed, except for the fact that my rear inner rim is covered in brake fluid.... unfortunately for me, I was less than a mile from work, and decided to limp it in slowing it down with the manumatic. Its horrifying and irresponsible of me, yes I know, but that's the safest place I knew I could possibly leave my vehicle overnight and come back with spare parts the next morning. I'm not entirely sure what I might do right now. I'm at the beginning of my shift and may request a tow or uber/lyft it home... Any one else encounter a failure in the rear brake area???
I"ll update once I'm able to crawl underneath it and inspect it more. I was already late to work and didn't have time to look underneath, but I will once I'm off tonight.

Thanks in advance for any assitance.
    Al

Could be a caliper failed and leaked. How many miles on that truck? It is strange that you have no brakes? You have a master cylinder that has 2 chambers. One for the front and one for the back so even if you lost all fluid in the back the front should still work.

175k so you have obviously had a few brake jobs done but maybe the calipers have never been replaced?

Calipers have not been replaced at all,
I ordered the 2 front calipers since the passenger front caliper is seized as of 2 days ago, I inspected a noise that was coming from the brakes and its not releasing the disc at all, the driver side is intermittent it releases it at times and not on others, so I ordered both of them to make sure.

Rear ones are still stock, may need to replace them as well, but need to crawl in there to see first. You may be right, but I need to confirm

lol, on a side note, I am kinda feuding with my landlord, she may want to just end the issue by cutting my brake lines and no more issues all of a sudden, her gardeners came by today and a neighbor came in my driveway as well to talk to the gardeners, and I had taken the truck out to my kid's school earlier and I went to the VA and it was fine...
I really hope I'm joking and don't go out to find the line actually cut.

Operator failure. I pushed back my rear brake maintenance, which I should not have done, because I focused my attention on the wrong place. Turns out the rear brakes needed replacement and I failed to notice that resulting in the piston pushing the brake pad out of the caliper and into the slot between the dust cover and disk. This resulted in the piston actually making contact with the disk and pretty much blowing both disk and caliper apart. I've ordered a new caliper, but in the mean time its out of commission. I'm not even going to try and rebuild it, just by looking on the outside of it I'm pretty sure the inside may need a lot of professional resurfacing which I don't have funds for.

Adding some ocular pleasure as promised. Once I swap it out I'll take more and post them.

On this bottom pictures you can see the brake pad peeking from behind the disk.

So.... I don't think my caliper failed after all. After pulling my caliper off and the rotor I was surprised by this. Now its not the stock rotor I wanted Pep Boys to turn the rotor and they claimed it was too thin, so I purchsed this rotor, and it hasn't even been turned. Mounted right out of the box, and it wasn't the 40$ option either... Ill attach the caliper and the rotor below.. This explains the brake pad being knocked out of the caliper and into tje soace between the dust shield and rotor.

I have never seen damage to a rotor like that. I would bring it back to PEP Boys and see what they say. I think it is a defective rotor.

I think so as well, its been a few years though not sure if pep boys will actually take it into account. In a shameful way I know I still have the box, using it as storage for inappropriate material, ie actual parts cost vs word of mouth cost.
