    Default Bluetooth microphone issue

Hello, this is my first post on this forum, so first, thanks for having me.

I recently sold my '04 Tundra and purchased an '11 Tundra DC. The truck came with the factory touch screen radio with Bluetooth, etc. My phone paired up fine, and I could hear the other party, but they couldn't hear me. When I opened up the overhead console, the microphone wasn't installed.

I bought a used console that included the mic wiring and tried to swap it out. There are 2 wire harnesses in the headliner, one with 4 wires and one with 6 or 7. Both have the same size connector, just one is black and one is white (4 wire one just powering the lights).. I tried both harnesses, but still the same issue. Is there something I'm missing? Or is there a way to set up what looks like possibly mics on the face of the radio itself? (2 small squares on the top corners of the radio face)

    Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum! I believe our site vendor TRDJoe may be able to shine some light on your issue.

Did you try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes after you installed the mic? Worth a try.

I didn't try the battery disconnect. I will give it a shot and see. Hopefully @TRDJoe will be able to help too! Thanks

That's weird, sounds like somebody might have upgraded the original unit for a newer/better factory radio. I know I've seen people do this before and install the oem microphone in the overheard console but don't remember reading about any issues with the wiring harness. When I swapped the head unit in my 2009 for a better one I used a microphone for Scion nav units. It worked great and was super easy to install.

Not sure if the radio was a swap out or not. From what I have read, a lot of the wiring for upgrades etc. is pre-installed for most systems, so add ons are just plug and play? I would think that the wiring showing would be for the overhead systems.. I tried the console swap with both for the connectors in rhe head liner, and no joy.. does anyone know if/how I can change a setting for the head unit mic? I can't find anything and I'm trying to avoid tearing into the dash assembly. My old Tundra, I installed a Pioneer system. I was hoping to hold off on that upgrade if this system was usable for the time being..
