It isn't that the "owners think" they are worth so much... they are worth it intrinsically... a couple of points: as scrap my 25' Tradewind is worth $3000 just for the aluminum. The factory makes 90 per week that has to supply all dealers in the U.S. and 70 countries. This translates into a 6 month waiting list for most models (in stock at a dealership will be marked up from the already expensive $2000 per foot). **The biggest reason they command a premium (in my opinion) is that they will be forever renovated or restored. You certainly cannot say that about the "Kleenex boxes" (what my wife and I call other RVs... a bit elitist I know). Our Airstream is 42 years old and still generates A LOT of conversations wherever we take it. Most RVs will be shipped as scrap to China to be recycled. It's kind of like buying a Patek Phillipe or some other "heirloom" watch...

I saw an episode of American Pickers where the guys found an old beat to shiiiiiit Airstream and the guy said he wanted 75 for it. At the end of the show Mike shook his hand and said, "ok I'll take it" for $7500. The guy looked at him and smiled then said, "No, $75,000".
