Default Has anyone tried removing/disabling the Stability Control system?

I have an '05 double cab with Stability Control. Needs a master cylinder and brake booster due to a leak. Because of the ESC option, the parts are impossible to find except from a dealer....upwards of $1000 just for the cylinder.
I'm wondering if I can just put a standard master back on it, and remove the ESC or plug the lines. Would this cause havoc with the computer?
Hoping someone has experimented with this already. It's a 12 yr old work truck that only sees dry pavement, I don't need Stability Control anyway.

Not sure about the 05 but I disabled mine on an 07 by disconnecting the censor connectors from the two front wheels.

Did you have issues with computer, or check engine light staying on? I want to take the system off IF it doesn't cause problems.

The wheel sensors on the 2nd gen have to do with the abs and stability control so all I have are a couple dummy lights on but no issues with the computer at all. I've had it like this for 5 years.
