patriot Need Advice Blue L.E.D's inside grill insert

    Hey guys,
Was looking at a member who goes by "big tundra" I believe. The pic of his rig gave me an idea. I just installed a paramore black mesh grill insert. You can see some silver from oil cooler ect.. During the day ( not to bad) behind the grill. Question 1) should I rattle can a light amount of black over everything behind grill cover ? I would think good idea ?
Next, I would like to instal sum small ( subtle ) not to bright but a tint of blue light behind my grill cover. Any ideas? Those cheap auto zone kit lights ? I'm not to fond of those but never used strip led's. Any advice appreciated..
    Thanks,
    Erik

BTW: After almost a year finally decided to order the air kit from Dez, can't wait for it to get here.

I have used silicone LED strips (like the ones at autozone) and never had issues with them. I used a portion of a 16ft strip for my Under hood LED lighting. They have different colors for that one, but they also have smaller strips about 12in (30CM) long. You will also need a dimmer switch if you don't want them to be so bright. The 16ft strip still works perfectly even during the extreme desert here 110-120 degree outside temp, so under the hood it gets really hot and the 3M strip has yet to fall off which surprised me considering the conditions under the hood. The 5050 chips are brighter than the 3528 chips.

I would be careful displaying a blue forward facing light in CA.

Could be a reason for PD to stop you

Thanks guys, appreciate it. Blue fits my style
Yes I don't want I bright thus was gonna be next question, and looking up the dimmer switch rig. Actually in most states ornamental lighting is illegal to have on while driving.

Yup I hear ya.....thnx. Very cool car in pic. I live in Pa. Same basic stuff but I believe it says in vehicle code any ornamental lighting it's a 25.00 fine plus cost. You gotta be having a slow nite or guys gotta be driving like an idiot or the things gotta be blinding to get pulled over. Most of us.........ummmmmm, LEO's got better things to do.
But as with anything there is a place and time. For instance.....I would Never, ever run them in Va. And I don't even know the law their, lol. Except they would pull over a presidential motor Cade if they were traveling to fast and issue citation. Lol !
Thanks for good info guys. Gotta get air box done hoping to see that small power increase and sound

If your referring to the SABM you will hear a slightly more aggressive sound and i have seen a .5 mpg increase. I didnt have it on long enough to test before i got my tune and exhaust.

Bsavoir, yup that's what I'm ref. Too. Also Dez and I were talking. My truck sat for almost 4 months with full tank fuel. I use a product called gas-plus for Yamaha outboards on my boat. It basically an ethonal killer. So decided I probably had some fuel separation after four months so added the correct amount. Reset the mpg odometer and took a drive about 68 miles. When I got home I checked the mpg average my truck showed 15.6. Never have I ever gotten that great of a gas mileage, where I live there are many hills and I was not lite on the gas after not driven for six months due to a surgery. I filled up yesterday Took the truck on 120 mile drive use the same treatment averaged 16 MPG. The best I ever did in the past was 13.6 and that was taking it real easy and coasting down the hills. I think the stuff makes a big difference. Remember I also have a six-inch lift, 20 inch wheels on 35x12.5 So hoping the SABM with K&N filter helps, plus sound added bonus. Thnx for your info !
