Default Widow needs advice please- crazy noise in rear

I have my husbands (RIP) 2008 Tundra 2x2 SR5 double cab V6 w 118k miles on it and last nite when I backed into garage it was making a crazy clunking sound somewhere in the rear area ( I popped hood and sound not coming from engine area). I read and printed the TSB Dez recommended on the drive train.
What I’m wondering is, is it safe for me to drive it now? And do u have any idea on a price range that this repair might be or how long it shud take them to do it? (4 yrs ago I took truck in for a minor recall and a service maintenance and they kept it for 3.5 days! I’ve used someone else for maint. Since then, but this isssue sounds like it’s a dealer repair thing). Any feedback would help, thanx! (I probably shud have traded in the truck by now, but I just haven’t been able to part with it, sold my car instead, so now this is all I have.)

clunking as like a rubber band type noise??
When you backed into the garage was the truck sitting for the day, hours, or were you coming back home.??
Has the sound been both moving forward and backwards??

Reason I ask is that mine still does a sort of clunk or rubber band typish sound every day I turn it on and pass 15mph. If it was grinding or making a sort of metal on metal sound, have someone check the brakes, then the differential.

Truck had been sitting for a few hours where I was across town, but noise only noticed at end when I backed into garage, it’s more of a metal sound - not sure but I think it was both in D and R. I was so tired and spent when I came in ( had been across town making funeral arrangements for my step father) I checked under hood, then turned it off and came inside. Brakes were replaced about 4-5 yrs ago, only driven about 6500-7000 mi since then.

I'm leaning towards the brakes, but I'm not a tech. The noise only comes while you're coming to a full stop, or while at speed??

Oh, I just remembered a flat was repaired and tires rotated about 10 days ago, haven’t driven much since then, could there be any connection?

unless the tires weren't tighten down they may come loose and may cause a wheel to separate over time, but we may still need an expert advise who can probably go more into detail then I can. You can double check my trying to loosen or tighten every lug with you hand to give yourself an idea if that may be the issue. They shouldn't be able to just untighten with your hand.

    Thanks!
Lugs all appeared to be tight, truck been sitting in garage since late in day yesterday, no fluids underneath it. Rolled it forward and backward (only about 5 ft each way) and no clanking sound yet, will take it into dealer next week, I just know how they try to pull one over on us gals- (like with a set appointment and then 3.5 days for oil change and computer reset - I was supposed to think that is normal!?!) Toyota dealer closest to me shop reputation is questionable. But if it something on a Toyota TSB or recall seems dealer is prob. Best bet... but it appears that I prob shud be able to drive it there...

I understand the dealership situation, I went through a rough one when my water pump exploded years ago. If there is another one in the vicinity I would suggest to attempt to find another dealer. In the mean time I guess you can try to move the truck to the edge of the driveway and back to see if the noise persists. If there is a significant ruckus I might recommend a tow to decrease any additional damage. Eventually someone will chime in with more info and more experience.

    Thanks again for your responses.
Drove truck about 8 miles today. No noticeable noise. So now I’m really stumped as to whether that is good news or same news....seems if it was the drive shaft issue in the TSB it would not be an intermittent noise, but that’s just a guess. I know a cursory amount of things about under the hood, but the drive train- nada! Other than the obvious. Driving felt normal today, no stiffness in steering or anything so.
