So I thought I'd be able to buy my dad's arctic cat 700 for a very sweet deal but he's changed his mind and doesn't want to sell it. So my brother in law's friend is selling a 2002 Honda Rancher 350. I can possibly get it for about $2500. The guy that has it takes very good care of his stuff. I looked at it but he wasn't home to test drive. Its pretty clean, very little dirt or mud underneath. I'm just wondering if its a good deal and how these perform. What kinda speed are we talking here and being 2wd, how capable in the woods? Any input appreciated!

The rancher there is going to give you the best reliability. IMO Honda makes the Most reliable bikes on the market, And I have owned a couple. Being 2wd Your not going to be mud riding It would just be used as intended, Utility. But it will do good in some nasty mud with good set of tires. (I had foreman 300 2wd.)

But the price: 2500 Is a little much. Well its about $1,000 much. $1500-1600 is What I would expect to pay for Used in great condition. STOCK.

Now the arctic cat 08-09-10 Model You could expect for around $5500-$6000 price.

Have you check Blue book values for where you live? www.kbb.com I think may do ATV's.

I'm selling my WR426 and YZ250 two smoke. Keeping the rhino, WR450 and 74 Elsinore MR50. Just unloaded the 650 Kawi stand up to a local Lake Elsinore speed freak.

Bike won't work too well for me, I need something to play with but also work during hunting season and around the house.

Ok, I've found a couple more possibilities, both of them are at a Polaris dealership. They're both 2008 models. Both are 400 HOs. One is red and only has 50 miles on it and looks brand new, they're asking 4200 for that one. The other is camo and has 230 miles on it. It looks good but you can tell it has been used. There's some leaves and pine needles in front storage compartment, no many but a few, they're asking 3800 for that one which is more in my price range of what I want to spend. Didn't get a chance to drive or check em out real close because it was 97deg and I had my 7 month old girl with me. Any thoughts or things to check for before buying?

Either one sounds pretty cool just make sure you haggle with the dealer for the best price, a lot of these places are still struggling with this economy so its a good time to take advantage.

Went back today, couldn't test drive because of insurance reasons (dudes been sued once before I found out) also checked out new hondas, my bro has one and I looked at pretty much the same he has but with 4x4. Dealer wouldn't budge on the prices of the used polaris and a brand new honda is 5500. Leaning towards the honda but I gotta call around and check prices at other dealers.

Do you guys have the quick quarters or small newspapers just for items for sale? Some places call them Dandy Dimes. Son picked up a 06 350 rancher es with that push button shift from an ederly guy that only used it for hunting and took great care of it. It had 221 miles on it. This thing was mint. He got it for $2800. Notice I said it was mint. He has already added a lift and big tires. These little papers have great deals and he just kept checking them every week till he found one.
I don't know the supply up there, but down here you can find them pretty often. Good luck with the search. I don't like that push button transmission, but hey I am old school. Just watching to see how it holds up to the mud holes.

We have something similar I think, I've been having better luck on craigslist, just have to sort through the junk. I'm not a fan of push button either and would actually rather have a foot shift with auto clutch than an automatic, they're a lot more fun to drive.

get a side x side. the hondas will be less maintenance do to no cvt transmission. i have a polaris rzr now but have had 2 hondas and a kawasaki. honda was more reliable. you get a 300 then you will sell and get a 500, then sell and get a 650, sell and get a 800 thats what i did.lol!

Yeah probably, I'd love to have the new rzr but they're too expensive right now. I've pretty much decided on the new Honda 4x4. The one I looked at was a 420 but I might see how much more the 500 will be. I looked at another used arctic cat last night but you never know what you're getting buying one used.

Look into a used 700 rhino. Fuel injection! Nothing like riding side by side in a powerful little 4x4. Mine still kicks mucho ass!!

Looked around this area, no rhinos, very few used atvs for sale.
