How about adding a "I wanna be lowered". :)
I have something cooking, but feel free to add it you want. For some reason, I can't make changes to polls once they are submitted. I looked for the pencil icon but can't find it. I think only administrators can change.

The pencil is right next to, View Poll Results: Is Your Tundra Lowered?

not sure if mine counts considering they dont have drop kits for my truck but i have drop shakels on the rear which drops it 2 inches ans im tryin to get an extra set of coil springs to lower the front too (custom lower)

Your truck would look even sicker slammed on the floor!

You could probably get another stock set and cut a few inches off, that'll drop ya!

It would be great if you guys with lowered trucks could add your wheel/tire setup to our Tundra Geeks Data Base.
For lowered trucks, add your info here: http://tundrageeks.com/forum/showthread.php?2647-Please-post-info-about-your-wheel-tire-setup-(Lowered-trucks)
Thanks!!!!

I agree!
I also think we have enough lowered Tundra's here to have a TOTM!

Just be careful as it doesn't take much cut to lower. And it will settle a little more after you put them back in. My buddy and I did his s10 which we put a v8 in, we cut I think it was half a coil and thought it wasn't enough. so pulled them right back out and cut another half. after they settled it was sitting on the bump stops. :) so instead we ended up swaping in a set of springs from a 4cyl s10 and the weight of the v8 sat it down real nice. I cant remember for sure but I think half a coil is something like 1" drop maybe? possibly different with the setup on the tundra though. On a side not id be leary of cutting springs on the setup which it is compressed with the shock in there. The S10 had them just sitting in the perches and not having a load on the shock.

Oh ya, I've cut my share of spring and know how the results are exaggerated.

But that's not to say I haven't jacked up my share of springs. [bigsmile]
When I swapped my stock springs with the fabtech's on the 6" RCD on my 2000 Tundra they were too tall so I had to experiment by cutting 1/2 a coil at a time until I got the truck perfectly level. What a pain in the ass!!! It took 3 times to get it just right and I had blisters on my hands from this old spring compressor I had.
for future reference, what was the drop per half coil for these springs. Do you remember?

It turned out about 4" too high up front with the Fabtech's and I wanted my 4WD perfectly level. I recall I removed what equaled 2 coils per side so that would be a drop of 2" per coil. Does that make sense?
Im sure it varies for different spring styles or what stiffness they are, Thats why I asked what your findings were. Did you have any problems with them seating back in the strut after being cut?
Other old school options of lowering coils is to take the torch and heat them up and let them settle down. only in my theory I wonder if the heat would change the properties of the metal spring and possibly cause it to break in the future.

I would be afraid of the heat causing hardening when heated and then having a spring shatter under strain. Definitely not something that I would want to try and fix!

It only had about 4K on the odometer when I dropped it last summer. I just blasted past 36K and it's still pretty clean under there, but it NEVER rains here. I did drive it through the snow and salty muck a few times, though.
So we have at least six lowered Tundras for the next TOTM? I am thinking we may want to wait a little longer until we can get a bigger turn out?
